About Rebecca
A lifelong New Yorker, Rebecca Mantello relocated with her family to the Hudson Valley in 2009 and has called Shawangunk home since 2020. Building on her 2021 campaign for Shawangunk Town Justice, she now seeks to bring her extensive legal experience and community commitment to the Ulster County Surrogate Court.
Rebecca currently serves as principal court attorney to the Honorable James R. Farrell in Sullivan County Court, where she manages a multibench docket encompassing criminal, civil, and surrogate's matters. In this role, she conducts court conferences, participates in settlement negotiations, performs complex legal research, drafting decisions, and advises the Court on matters requiring impartial judgment and careful analysis.
Her career includes service as a court attorney in the Supreme Courts of Dutchess and Orange Counties and with the Appellate Division, Third Department. She spent nearly five years with the Office of the Governor as a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) attorney, ensuring public access to government records and promoting transparency and accountability across state agencies. Rebecca has also worked in the private sector representing clients in all aspects of civil litigation.
